LGU Nabunturan Formulates GAD Plan 2018

LGU Nabunturan officials and employees undergo Gender and Development Plan (GAD) Formulation Seminar- Workshop held at the Raj Hotel, Tagum City last March 15-17, 2017, spearheaded by the newly appointed GAD Focal Alma Delia Besana, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Noel Duarte, the resource speaker of the forum, discussed the PCW-DILG-DBM-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular 2016-01, a new and simplified GAD Plan form.

An Executive order no. 17 series of 2017 was released, creating the executive committee and the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) of the municipality of Nabunturan.

The executive committee, in coordination with the GFPS-TWG, shall ensure and sustain the Municipal Government’s critical consciousness and support on women and gender issues and take the lead in mainstreaming GAD perspective in the municipal programs, policies, projects, activities, and processes.

The GAD Executive Committee, together with the GFPS-TWG, drafted the GAD Plan within the 3-day seminar-workshop under the facilitation of DILG Provincial Director Noel Duarte.

Mayor Chelita Amatong pronounced during the review process the importance of GAD Plan formulation in ensuring local government programs address to gender-related concerns of the employees and clientele.

The GAD plan and budget is set to be submitted at the DILG Provincial office for approval, before its implementation on 2018.

The drafted plan and budget mainly include gender-responsive programs and activities such as Gender-Sensitivity Trainings, and provision of comfortable working space among employees and clients.
