NABUNTURAN, TOP PERFORMER PESO AMONG 11 MUNICIPALITIES

Among the eleven (11) municipalities in Compostela Valley Province, only two (2) was recognized as the Top Performer Public Employment Service Office (PESO) by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

One of which, is our dear municipality of Nabunturan under the Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO).

The top performers were awarded with a set of desktop computer in recognition of the efforts of the municipality in providing quality service.

Thus, during the Monday convocation on November 25, 2019, the award was received by Ms. Reynita Villan, Human Resource and Management Officer from Sir Isidrick M. Paqueo, Sr. Local Employment Officer of DOLE. (IO, RL)

MADAC-NABUNTURAN RECOGNIZED DURING THE DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND CONTROL WEEK

Last November 20, 2019, the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) together with the Reformed Voluntary Surrenderers attends the Reformed Voluntary Surrenderers (RVS) Day in celebration of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week (from November 17-23, 2019) at Provincial Capitol Ground, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province.

In the event, the RVS Nabunturan proudly championed the Basketball game.

With the theme, “Health for Justice, Justice for Health” the Province of Compostela Valley (soon to be Davao de Oro) among the eleven (11) municipalities is one with the national celebration against drug abuse.

NABUNTURAN BAGS RED ORCHID AWARD 2019!

Last November 15,2019, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan with Local Chief Executive Chelita C. Amatong and the Municipal Health Office, headed by Dr. Danielo O. Rubillos, is very much delighted to be awarded the prestigious DOH Red Orchid Awards 2019 for 100% Tobacco-Free Environment at Grand Mensing, Davao City.

The Red Orchid Award is an annual search for 100% Tobacco-Free Environment among different administrative levels (national, regional, provincial, city, municipal) of the Department of Health (DOH).

The winners are judged based on the strength of the comprehensive efforts to implement the 100% smoke-free environments using the World Health Organization (WHO) MPOWER initiative.

MPOWER is an acronym that denotes the six proven tobacco control policies: Monitor tobacco use and prevention policies; Protect people from tobacco smoke; Offer help to quit tobacco use; Warn against the dangers of tobacco; Enforce bans on tobacco advertising; and Raise taxes on tobacco.

The result of percentages become the basis for the color of the orchid each nominee will receive. The White Orchid (71-80%) and the Pink Orchid (81-90%) are considered as runner up and Red Orchid (100%) is the winner.

NABUNTURAN EQUIPS AGAINST EARTHQUAKE OCCURENCE

In light with the October 16 and 29 occurrence, wherein the municipality felt the magnitude 6.3 and 6.4 earthquake, leaving some noticeable cracks in elementary and high school buildings, the Local Government of Nabunturan took immediate actions.

On October 16, an initial incident report was submitted by Ms. Jennifer F. Echavez of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRMMO) after their assessment to various schools in the municipality, highlighting the schools with cracks found.

In the initial assessment, Engineer Thelma Gisma, Municipal Engineer, declared that the buildings were still fit to hold classes.

Until the second earthquake on the morning of October 29, Mayor Chelita C. Amatong called for an emergency meeting in response to the phenomenon that have brought fear to the people of Nabunturan.

The Provincial Office of the Governor also issued orders for the cancellation of classes in all levels in the municipality as precautionary measures. 

The next day, three teams composed of representatives from Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Nabunturan Emergency Response Team (NERT), and Office of the Municipal Engineer, were dispatched to check vulnerable school buildings in the municipality that have been found with visible cracks.

The teachers and disaster focal(s) were then enlightened with the status of the buildings and the necessary measures to be done. From the assessment, most of the school buildings are fit to hold classes.

On November 3 to 11, 2019, the Nabunturan Emergency Response Team (NERT) under the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office flew to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental to undergo a Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Course at Amity Public Safety Academy.

Thirteen (13) NERT responders along with provincial responders and rescuers from Monkayo and Mawab completed the 8-day CSSR course that is in accordance with the Program for the Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) standard.

This is to capacitate the rescuers and responders in a highly critical event like Earthquake which is unprecedented by nature.

With an equipped and capacitated Disaster Risk Reduction and Management rescuers, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan seeks to provide fast and quality services to Nabunturanons whenever, wherever.

Water System Project

On October 4, 2019, Local Chief Executive Chelita C. Amatong led another Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Potable Water System Project worth over 1.5 million pesos at Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion together with Sir Freddie D. Coronica, Special Project Consultant; Barangay Captain Debbie Tan represented by Hon. Cyrian Reterba, barangay officials and functionaries.

The said project is the fifth Potable Water System in the municipality, that is run by solar power.

Mayor Amatong, in her message,urged the people of Purok 2 to take good care of the project and instill harmonious relationship within the community.

Three (3) water system projects, in Barangay Cabidianan, Pangutosan, and San Roque will also be implemented this year 2019.

These steps seek to create more sustainable projects that will be beneficial for the growth and development of Nabunturan.

LGU-NABUNTURAN CONDUCTS 4 WATER SYSTEM TURN-OVERS IN A WEEK!

On August 14, 2019, Local Chief Executive Chelita C. Amatong headed the Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Potable Water System to the residents of Purok 3, Magsaysay on August with Sir Freddie D. Coronica, Special Project Consultant; Mr. Bernaldo B. Aduabe, Jr., MLGOO representative; Hon. Alex Vegafria, Barangay Captain; and Hon. Elvi Dinsay, Purok 3 Chairman.

Mayor Amatong expressed,

 “Karon nahinay-hinay nato ug tubag ang panginahanglan sa purok. Ang amoa lang jud giampo ani nga musustiner lang unta.

Ang akoa lang, dile nato awayan ang tubig kay grasya jud ni. Kay kung mangluod gani ni, wa jud tay mahimo. Dile nato awayan, atong ampingan, ug kanunay nato pasalamatan ang tag-iya jud sa source, kay pwede na niya dile ihatag ug i-share, pero iyaha jud gihatag.”

The project is worth over 1.5 million, and is powered by solar panels that is functional and readily available for the use of residents from Purok 3.

Purok 3 Barangay Magsaysay is chosen due to the dire need of its people and the generosity of one of its residents who donated and shared the water source.

The purok is one of the four beneficiaries of the Potable Water System Project, where a total of 6 million pesos is funded for its accomplishment; 4.5 million from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and 1.5 million from the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan.

In Barangay Basak

Another Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Potable Water System Project worth over 1.5 million is conducted on August 15, 2019 at Barangay Basak led by Mayor Chelita C. Amatong together with Sir Freddie D. Coronica, Special Project Consultant; Engr. Harold Rosales; Mr. Bernaldo B. Aduabe, Jr., MLGOO representative; Barangay Captain Danilo Cuevas, barangay officials and functionaries.

“Ang project gipanganlan ni siya’g Level Two, tungod kay ang original nga design niya kay para najud sa clustering of houses. Atong kahimtang, susama sa atong nasayran kay wala jud tay tubig,” explained Sir Freddie in his message.

While in Barangay Antequera…

Barangay Captain Jessie Teody S. Tagalog along with the barangay officials and functionaries attended the event.

 In his acceptance message, Hon. Tagalog expressed his gratitude for its launching, which will help the residents of the barangay.

In Barangay Magading

            Brgy. Magading is in high spirits with the Blessing and Turn-over ceremony of their Potable Water System.

Barangay Captain Hector C. Generalao expressed his exhilaration for the turn-over event, sharing that this day is very memorable and symbolic for the people of Magading.

Mayor Chikay reminded the barangay to dutifully safeguard the water system, which took a lot of time, resources, and trials for the LGU to fully implement. She also stressed that the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan is always ready to provide help for the common good.

Barangay Magading is the fourth, out of four water system projects, to be turned-over and blessed this week (excluding Barangay Antequera which is still in its launching stage).

Upat ka grupo sa task force ang nagpangalap sa impormasyon ug nagmando sa atong mga tricycle driver nga magbutang na ug sticker.

LGU-Nabunturan Holds ‘Caves Participatory Management Planning’

Mipangi, Nabunturan –On August 14-17, 2019 the Tourism and Information Section of Nabunturan in partnership with the Local Barangay Unit of Mipangi, Provincial Tourism Office of Compostela Valley, and Davao Speleological Conservation Society (DSPECS) organized a three-day Caves Participatory Management Planning.

Executive Director Edna Parcon and President Roderick Parcon of Davao Speleological Conservation Society (DSPECS) were the resource speakers for the event who shared their expertise and knowledge.

The planning is participated by the cave keepers of Barangay Mipangi, along with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ms. Geraldine Pizaras and staff, Tourism and Information Section headed by Ms. Leah M. Calamba and staff, and provincial cavers.  

“Tungod ani nga planning, we learned that there are a lot of things to be done for our tourism industry to grow sustainably; and to take responsible measures for our cave destinations especially here in Mipangi,” said Ms.
