NALGEU receives Certificate of Registration on Collective Negotiation Agreement

A Certificate of Registration on Collective Negotiation Agreement is given to the Nabunturan Local Government Employees Union (NALGEU) of the Municipal Government of Nabunturan by Civil Service Commission (CSC) Assistant Regional Director, Cyril-Nathan SM. Eamiguel during the weekly convocation on April 15, 2019.

As defined by CSC, the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) is a contract negotiated between an accredited employees’ organization as the negotiating unit and the employer/management on the terms and conditions of employment.

In pursuit to the Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Exercise of the Right of Government Employees to Organize, and having complied with the prescribed requirements; the Local Government of Nabunturan’s Nabunturan Local Government Employees Union (NALGEU) is registered by the said Commission.

On one hand, an oath-taking for the new set of NALGEU officers administered by Mayor Chelita C. Amatong was observed on April 22, 2019.








7 Nabunturanon short films screened at Cinema Rehiyon XI

With their theme, Elevating Cinema, almost a hundred of films have been showed in the different screening venues of the Cinema Rehiyon XI. Held at the Home of the Gentle People, Dumaguete City, the 5-day National Film Festival for regional films, have been a platform for film makers to meet new friends, network to producers and to watch films produced and shot in different regions in the Philippines. Out of the hundred films that were screened at Cinema Rehiyon XI are films produced and shot in Nabunturan. Here are the seven films from Nabunturan that was screened during the festival:

Present during the whole week of the festival are the National Cinema Committee headed by Teddy Co and the Festival Directors of the various film festival around the Philippines. The 12th Edition of the said National Festival of the Regional Films will be held at Naga City, February last week next year 2019. Cinema Rehiyon is a flagship project of the Cinema Committee of NCCA and co-presented by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Dumaguete City Tourism Office and other partner institutions in the city.

BPLO Conducts Orientation for Tricycle Drivers and Operators

Last February 28, 2019, the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) conducted an Orientation on National and Local Laws for the Motorized Tricycle For Hire at the Municipal Covered Court, Poblacion, Nabunturan.

Ms. Gilda Aldaya, Licensing Officer III of BPLO, shared that one of the goals of the said event was to ensure that the tricycle drivers and operators of Nabunturan have a common knowledge on local and national laws including anti-smoking ordinance, gender and development, traffic rules, and regulations.

She also stressed that the orientation aims to inform the drivers and operators about the existing laws and ordinances and their roles and responsibilities.


Nabunturan, Compostela Valley- February 19, 2019 marks a significant day as Mayor Chelita “Chikay” Amatong delivered her State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) at Assumption College of Nabunturan Gym (ACN Gym).

The event was graced by Board Members’ Hon. Macario T. Humol, Hon. Felipe B. Masambo, and Hon. Vivencia L. Secuya, with the Sangguniang Bayan members headed by Vice Mayor Rodel G. Balili.

Respected guests coming from the national agencies, business sector, CSOs/NGOs, the academe, religious groups, barangay captains and functionaries, LGU department heads, and employees attended the occasion.

In her SOMA, Mayor Chikay laid her administration’s achievements through the four-pronged approach HOPE which focuses on Health, Opportunity, Productivity, and Education in the spirit of “Serbisyong Matarong”.

She also enumerated various social services (i.e., health and medical opportunities, agricultural services, business services, and others) infrastructure projects (i.e., evacuation centers, road projects, and agricultural facilities), armory and communication facilities given in safety and security providers (i.e., PNP, BFP, NERT), and additional personnel in various offices that needed manpower to function efficiently.

Among other feats that were said in her SOMA, Mayor Chikay also proudly presented the community programs and trainings in social welfare and development, business and economic growth, agricultural services, and tourism development programs that the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan have supported.

Another highlight were the attainment of numerous excellence awards in varying sectors and the goal of her administration in embarking to CITYHOOD which shall bring greater prosperity and services to the people. 

Mayor Chikay ends with a resounding message:

“Today before you all, I renew my commitment to serve, my resolve to go beyond personal interest, biases, and politics, to deliver what the people of Nabunturan truly deserve, ang pagpangalagad sa katawhan, ang paghatud ug “Serbisyong Matarong”.

Nabunturan Welcomes Bulawan Queen 2019 Candidates

LGU-Nabunturan with Local Chief Executive Chelita “Chikay” C. Amatong welcomes the gorgeous Bulawan Queen candidates during a courtesy call in the municipality for their Davao de Oro tour last February 15, 2019.

Davao de Oro tour engages the candidates in exploring the 11 municipalities of the province, which gives them the chance to immerse and learn from different municipalities.Especially in the development and growth of tourism industries.

As such, Nabunturan is part of the second set in the itinerary for the Davao de Oro tour, giving the candidates a glimpse of the “heArt of the valley”.

Ms. Leah M. Calamba, Municipal Tourism Officer, gave an overview of what encompasses Nabunturan, as well as its landmarks and sites.

A short video presentation was also prepared to show the bounty of the place. Ms. Jaira Lumactud, then introduced Mayor Chelita C. Amatong to her co-candidates.

The beautiful ladies also had the chance to experience abaca weaving using the traditional loom in the Cooperative Handicraft Industry of Nabunturan (CHAIN), located at Prk 15. Poblacion, after a photo opportunity in the Nabunturan Icon (the heART of the Valley).

A short video shoot was also taken as part of the Davao de Oro tour campaign during the course of the visit.

Mayor Chikay proudly congratulates the candidates and hopes that the crown goes to the most deserving Bulawan Queen 2019.

Young Nabunturanon Athletes Brought Pride during DAVRAA 2019

LGU-Nabunturan is proud and thrilled as table tennis ace Jhiven Jay A. Clamucha and two young swimmers, Bianca A. Tulio and Zabrina Wyuna M. Humol from Nabunturan Central Elementary School (NCES), won medals during the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet 2019 in Davao City.

Bianca Tulio and Zabrina Humol triumphantly stashed gold medals for 4×100 medley relay and silver medals for 4×50 medley relay.

Ms. Tulio also brought home bronze medals in 100-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Breaststroke, and 200-meter Breaststroke. While, Ms. Humol achieved bronze medals in 100-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Butterfly, and 200-meter Butterfly.

Jhiven Jay A. Clamucha was victorious in winning the gold medal under table tennis (boy’s category).

On one hand, the three are proudly qualifiers for Palarong Pambansa (in Davao) and Nationals (in Bohol).

DAVRAA is a week-long sports event featuring Davao region’s finest elementary and secondary athletes. It was held in the University of Mindanao Sports Complex in Bago Oshiro Davao City last January 27-February 2, 2019.

The meet also prepares the best of the Region’s athlete for the much-awaited Palarong Pambansa 2019 to be hosted in Davao City, the first in the 21st century, since it last hosted the meet way back in 1950.

LGU Nabunturan Joins National Zero Waste Month

In celebration of the National Zero Waste Month and the 18th anniversary of Republic Act 9003, also known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan partakes the Pulot Basura, a Bayan ko Linis Ko Activity today, January 25, 2018 at 6:00 in the morning around Poblacion, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

With the theme “We an Alternative Technologies Partnering for Proper Waste Management”, the said activity was participated by 4Ks organization and LGU employees (with 2 representatives each office).

Former barangay captain Lupicinio Bagaslao expressed his enthusiasm and shared various activities laid for the month-long celebration such as the Community Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) on R.A. 9003 started last January 14, 2019 at Magading Elementary School.

Further, on top of the 400 elementary students from Pangutosan ES, Basak ES, and Magading ES, Mr. Bagaslao shared that they also had the chance to conduct CEPA in Bayabas National High School-Basak Campus.

Ms. Evelyn Dela Peña also added that aside from educational institutions, the said information dissemination activity was also conducted to the indigenous people of Bukal, Mainit, and Anislagan with over 300 participants.

“Among paningkamutan nga mas daghan pang skwelahan ug katawhan ang ma-inform ani through CEPA…” said Mr. Bagaslao.

On one hand, enjoining the nationwide celebration, all barangays shall join the simultaneous clean-up drive tomorrow January 26, 2019 facilitated by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).


Realizing the essence of Panaghiusa, Pagpasalamat, and Pagsadya, the 24th Simballay Festival was successfully concluded last December 10-14, 2018 at the Events Stage, Arabejo Avenue, Poblacion, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

The festival, headed by the ever-dynamic Mayor Chelita “Chikay” Amatong, weaved an array of activities that brought excitement and gaiety to an influx of people in all ages and in various walks of life.

From the annual Pamukaw at 4 in the morning, a Thanksgiving mass was held in the afternoon, followed by a motorcade featuring Side Car Float Parade headed by local officials, department heads, employees, barangay dignitaries, and guests.

Prior to the event is the opening of the LGU Cup (Sports competition) and Educators’ Day on December 7, 2018.

Mayor Amatong together with Vice Mayor Rodel G. Balili, SB Members, and employees led the ribbon-cutting for the official opening of the Barangay Booths, in accordance with the theme “Bahay Kubo”, in the main thoroughfare; followed by Sayawitarama competition, a song, dance, and drama performance in one.

On the second day, an Ethnic parade joined by the local officials, department heads, employees, tribal chieftains, and tribes in colorful ethnic attires flaunted the streets of Poblacion.

It was then followed by the Tribal Day Program in the Public Market Gym, Medical and Dental Outreach Program for IPs in the Municipal Covered Court, and the Kasalan ng Tribo.

At night, despite the heavy downpour, Bea ng Simballay 2018 successfully transpired and received positive feedbacks from the people as it showcased the beauty and vivacity of culture and traditions of various tribes (dominantly Mansaka).

On the third day, Hudyaka sa Simballay which started with a colorful ethnic parade was participated by children, youth, persons with disability, and old people alike. Fun-filled activities were also lined up for the participants of the said event.

While in the evening, Barangayanihan: Christmas Carol Competition brought Christmas classics in various renditions to life.

Lanog sa Nabunturan was jubilantly celebrated in the 4th day. Amidst the scorching heat, drum and bugle corps participants in their colorful and vibrant costumes showcased their various talents. And in the afternoon, was the Pista sa Ani featuring Best Tasting Lechon Competition.

The most-awaited Garbo ng Nabunturan thrilled and enthused the viewers during the 3-stage competition that was participated by 10 aspiring talents who enlivened the night.

Sisid Sang Pangindanan, a street dancing competition, was the last but certainly not the least. Overwhelming embellishments, colorful props and costumes, and a whole lot of x factor performance was exhibited during the said event at the last day of Simballay.

The same intensity and vigor was also showcased during the Lights Parade which was participated by 17 barangays.

Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, together with Board Member Arturo Uy and Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga also graced the merrymaking.

While the Unity Night was made memorable by the amazing performance of DMX Comvalenyos and the presence of artist –comedian Negi who entertained and made everyone laugh.

Turn-over Program of Emergency Medical Services Equipment to Nabunturan Fire Station

On November 19, 2018, a significant accomplishment between BFP Nabunturan and the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan was marked by a turn-over Program of Emergency Medical Services Equipment to Nabunturan Fire Station.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of the Philippines is a government agency whose role lives by the mandate of “Saving lives and Properties”. 

With the addition of Emergency Medical Services Equipment to Nabunturan Fire Station, it shall aid the said agency in providing better services to the people of Nabunturan.

Emergency equipment like Spine Board, Jump Kit with supplies, Portable oxygen with humidifier, EMS vest, and others were officially handed to Insp. Joey Militar by SB Junjun Clarin, SB Secuya, and MO-AO IV Charly K. Valer.
