As a build-up activity for this year’s Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition, the 7th Sine Indie Film Camp proved to be a success with over 30 participants coming from various municipalities in the province.

The workshop was held last May 15-17, 2019 at the Cinematheque Centre Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

Sine Indie 7 invited three renowned Mindanaoan filmmakers as resource speakers for the workshop: Sir Arbi Barbarona, director of Tu Pug Imatuy (The Right to Kill, a film garnering awards in the Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2017); Ms. Ryanne Murcia, festival director of Festival de Cine Paz Mindanao in Zamboanga City; and Mr. Bryan Jimenez, a connoisseur of cinematography.

The workshop was divided into two sections, the Basic class for aspiring filmmakers and Master class for the local filmmakers who have already established their works and skills.

Among the reviewed unfinished films, 2 were granted 20,000.00, 4 were granted 10,000.00, and 2 were granted 5,000.00 worth of seed money for film production.

This local films shall be competing in the upcoming 7th Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition (NABIFILMEX) against films from Luzon, Visayas, and other parts of Mindanao.

The films will also have a chance to contend in various film festivals in the Philippines, and even in International film festivals.
