LGU-NABUNTURAN CONDUCTS 4 WATER SYSTEM TURN-OVERS IN A WEEK!

On August 14, 2019, Local Chief Executive Chelita C. Amatong headed the Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Potable Water System to the residents of Purok 3, Magsaysay on August with Sir Freddie D. Coronica, Special Project Consultant; Mr. Bernaldo B. Aduabe, Jr., MLGOO representative; Hon. Alex Vegafria, Barangay Captain; and Hon. Elvi Dinsay, Purok 3 Chairman.

Mayor Amatong expressed,

 “Karon nahinay-hinay nato ug tubag ang panginahanglan sa purok. Ang amoa lang jud giampo ani nga musustiner lang unta.

Ang akoa lang, dile nato awayan ang tubig kay grasya jud ni. Kay kung mangluod gani ni, wa jud tay mahimo. Dile nato awayan, atong ampingan, ug kanunay nato pasalamatan ang tag-iya jud sa source, kay pwede na niya dile ihatag ug i-share, pero iyaha jud gihatag.”

The project is worth over 1.5 million, and is powered by solar panels that is functional and readily available for the use of residents from Purok 3.

Purok 3 Barangay Magsaysay is chosen due to the dire need of its people and the generosity of one of its residents who donated and shared the water source.

The purok is one of the four beneficiaries of the Potable Water System Project, where a total of 6 million pesos is funded for its accomplishment; 4.5 million from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and 1.5 million from the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan.

In Barangay Basak

Another Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of Potable Water System Project worth over 1.5 million is conducted on August 15, 2019 at Barangay Basak led by Mayor Chelita C. Amatong together with Sir Freddie D. Coronica, Special Project Consultant; Engr. Harold Rosales; Mr. Bernaldo B. Aduabe, Jr., MLGOO representative; Barangay Captain Danilo Cuevas, barangay officials and functionaries.

“Ang project gipanganlan ni siya’g Level Two, tungod kay ang original nga design niya kay para najud sa clustering of houses. Atong kahimtang, susama sa atong nasayran kay wala jud tay tubig,” explained Sir Freddie in his message.

While in Barangay Antequera…

Barangay Captain Jessie Teody S. Tagalog along with the barangay officials and functionaries attended the event.

 In his acceptance message, Hon. Tagalog expressed his gratitude for its launching, which will help the residents of the barangay.

In Barangay Magading

            Brgy. Magading is in high spirits with the Blessing and Turn-over ceremony of their Potable Water System.

Barangay Captain Hector C. Generalao expressed his exhilaration for the turn-over event, sharing that this day is very memorable and symbolic for the people of Magading.

Mayor Chikay reminded the barangay to dutifully safeguard the water system, which took a lot of time, resources, and trials for the LGU to fully implement. She also stressed that the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan is always ready to provide help for the common good.

Barangay Magading is the fourth, out of four water system projects, to be turned-over and blessed this week (excluding Barangay Antequera which is still in its launching stage).

LGU-Nabunturan Holds ‘Caves Participatory Management Planning’

Mipangi, Nabunturan –On August 14-17, 2019 the Tourism and Information Section of Nabunturan in partnership with the Local Barangay Unit of Mipangi, Provincial Tourism Office of Compostela Valley, and Davao Speleological Conservation Society (DSPECS) organized a three-day Caves Participatory Management Planning.

Executive Director Edna Parcon and President Roderick Parcon of Davao Speleological Conservation Society (DSPECS) were the resource speakers for the event who shared their expertise and knowledge.

The planning is participated by the cave keepers of Barangay Mipangi, along with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Ms. Geraldine Pizaras and staff, Tourism and Information Section headed by Ms. Leah M. Calamba and staff, and provincial cavers.  

“Tungod ani nga planning, we learned that there are a lot of things to be done for our tourism industry to grow sustainably; and to take responsible measures for our cave destinations especially here in Mipangi,” said Ms.

GPS Survey for the Tree Growing along Banks and Flood-prone Areas Project

The Local Government Unit of Nabunturan in partnership with the Assumption College of Nabunturan (ACN) stood united in the launching of “Tree Growing along Banks and Flood-prone Areas Project” in the flood-prone area of Purok 7, Barangay Basak.

The said project is in its initial stage, as such representatives from the office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRMO), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO), Municipal Planning and Development (MPDO), and ACN conducted a GPS survey to identify the area and estimate the number of Maribago seedlings needed.

Ms. Jennifer F. Echavez, MDRRM Officer, expressed, “I mark this one as a milestone sa Local Government Unit of Nabunturan kay first ni siya nga mahitabo siguro sa tibuok ComVal, nga diin mag-tree planting [growing] ta sa mga flood-prone area”.

She was also happy to announce that, “Sa pagkakaron ang gipangayo ni SB Secuya nga half million para ani nga activity kay approve na…”, and urge everyone to work together for the success of this significant project.

Committee Chair on Environment, SB Francis Secuya also announced that the LGU is also evaluating the need to establish an Eco Park in every barangay, as mandated by law and as one of the town’s climate change mitigating measures.

He then expressed his sentiments to the said activity, “Ang gusto nato dinhi nga pag-abot sa panahon, kini nga project makasagang sa trahedya sama sa  baha, ug mamahimo pod ni siyang attraction para nato”. The event was attended by Honorable Alim Sotto, ACN representatives’ Sir Jeric Villan and Ma’am Janice Sepin, MENR Officer Ms. Geraldine Pizaras and staff, MPDC staff Mr. Nike Logronio, NERT responders, Barangay Basak officials and dignitaries, and the occupants of Purok 7 along with their Chairwoman.

Nabunturan Celebrates 62nd Anniversary!

With the theme Panaghiusa, Panagtambayayong Alang sa Malamboong Nabunturan, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan celebrates its 62nd Araw ng Nabunturan on July 21-23, 2019.

Kick-starting the celebration is a line-up of jam-packed sports event during the Pre-festival activity on July 20, 2019. A Responsible Pet Ownership forum was also conducted for pet owners in the Municipal Gymnasium.

To officially open the most-awaited Araw ng Nabunturan, a fun run and Zumba activity, with the theme “Run for a Smoke-free Nabunturan” was participated by various public and private institutions, civil service organizations, national agencies, and LGU officials and employees before the ceremonial opening in the Public Market Gymnasium.

On the second day, astounding talent and skills was showcased by our youth in the Blame it on the Youth- The Batan-ong Nabunturanon Youth Day Celebration.

Two of the highlights of Youth Day are the Nabunturan’s First-ever LGBT Pride March participated by over hundreds of youth and LGBT communities in Mindanao, and the First Nabunturan Open Dance Battle.

The founding day of the three-day fete was equally successful in its goal of Panaghiusa ug Panagtambayayong with the number of Nabunturanons who came to participate the ceremonial Founding Day Parade with Resource speaker Mr. Victor Secuya.

            Simultaneous to the event is the jobs fair, passporting, PRC renewal, PSA services, Anti-Rabies Dog vaccination, and beauty and health care services which was partaken by Nabunturanons.

Highlights in Sports

It is no doubt that Nabunturanons are born for the thrill and adventure brought by sports. Thus, in the celebration of the 62nd Araw ng Nabunturan, a line–up of sports activities are organized to share the essence of Panaghiusa, Panagtambayayong Alang sa Malamboong Nabunturan. 

For the pre-araw activity on the 20th of July, many came to witness the Mayor’s Cup Football Festival organized by the Nabunturan Yoyo Club held at the NCES grounds. The said football festival gathered over 30 teams from as far as Koronadal City.

            Simultaneous to the event is the Sepak Takraw dubbed as the 3rd Inter-Municipality Sports Competition, where players from seven (7) municipalities in Compostela Valley showed their prowess in the 17 under (boys and girls) category and 12 under (boys and girls category).

          With agility and focus, Table Tennis players were able to showcase their skills in the Open Table Tennis Tournament held at the Assumption College Gymnasium. Championing the team event is the COR JESU RB Team; while in Singles (open) category, Jeofrey Sajol from Panabo City was hailed champion. In 17 under and 12 under boys category, Ken Luzon from Davao City and Jhiven Clamucha from Nabunturan, respectively, championed the event. Further, Joy Marianito from Butuan City (17 under girls) and Angela Marianito (12 under girls) also from Butuan, championed the competition.

                 Another exciting and jam-packed sports activity is the Inter-barangay Volleyball Tournament held at the Public Market Gymnasium championed by Barangay Ogao. The said sports event was participated by gorgeous athletic ladies from six (six) barangays of the municipality: Basak, Antequera, Cabidianan, Magsaysay, Ogao, and Bayabas.

            After the thrilling game in the morning is the Amateur boxing at 3 pm held at the Public Market Gymnasium.

 Winning the Light Weight Division were Merwen Aballe, Raymund Aba-a, Reynaldo Lumosbog. While, in Medium Weight Division were Renato Rodto, Carl John Austria, Armil Madaleo, and Lake Kyrell Dela Torre.

LGU NABUNTURAN SALUTES FOR NEW EMT’s

With the governments vision of a “safer, adaptive and disaster-resilient Filipino communities towards sustainable development”, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan under the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) steps up in equipping the responders through a number of advance trainings.

Through the strong collaboration of the Stout Risk Reduction Management Training and Consultancy Services Inc., Municipality of Nabunturan, and the Province of Compostela Valley, thru the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), LGU-Nabunturan salutes to its 4 new Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who have undergone an extensive and challenging 1 month training in the Provincial Capitol, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, ComVal.

The newly graduate EMTs are Ms. Maria Anarey Adlawan, James Bryan Monera, Lloyd Gucor, and Irwin Melendres of Nabunturan Emergency Response Team (NERT), who are also holders of National Certificate II in Emergency Medical Service (EMS).

They also successfully passed the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT) international assessment, through online, which covers 199 items in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

AREMT is a professional Emergency Medical Service organization for industry medical technicians needing recognition of their qualifications.

On one hand, NERT responders, municipal radio-operators, and Listong Kabataan focal person attended the 4-day training on Emergency Vehicle Operations Course and Emergency Medical Dispatch Training conducted by the Stout Risk Reduction Management Training and Consultancy Services Inc. headed by Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Mark Libo-on held in Comval Hotel, Nabunturan.

Marked as another milestone of the municipality, today, July 14, 2019 the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan is proud to have a number of trained individuals who shall provide fast and efficient services to the people.

Turn Over Ceremony of Barangay Magsaysay Evacuation Center

In equipping the people against imminent typhoons and flooding, the municipality boosts its disaster risk reduction efforts to strengthen the town’s resilience.

Last July 11, 2019, the Local Government Unit of Nabunturan turns over 3.7 million worth Evacuation Center to the residents of C.M. Recto, Barangay Magsaysay through Barangay Captain Alex D. Vegafria.

The said project is funded under the Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (LGSF-ADM) and National Project Fund

Together with Mayor Chelita C. Amatong, the guests present in the occasion were DILG Provincial Director Noel Duarte, PDRRM Head Joseph Randy Loy, MLGOO Evan Noel Pascua, and Hon. Debie Tan.

BBN 2019: A Celebration of Beauty, Sophistication, and Advocacy

In celebration of the 62nd Araw ng Nabunturan, a competition of beauty, sophistication, and advocacy dubbed as Binibining Nabunturan 2019 exhilarated the Nabunturanons on the night of July 21, 2019 at the Assumption College of Nabunturan Gymnasium.

The pageant aims to choose a woman who will carry the responsibility and take the lead in promoting Nabunturan in the local, regional, and national setting.

She will also become the town’s Ambassadress of Goodwill and will represent the municipality in the Bulawan Festival in Compostela Valley.

Twelve (12) stunning ladies from the twenty-eight (28) barangays of the municipality flared and braved the final phase of the pageant.

With elegance, the binibinis hyped the enthusiasm in their Opening number and self-introduction.

Ms. Trina Marie Logronio, BBN 2018, also shared her enthusiasm and advice for the candidates,

                “Ladies, you are all beautiful. You just need to be yourself… and be confident in who you are…”

The swimsuit competition then took place, and the strikingly hot binibinis tread the runway in their one-piece swimsuit by Pigarro Swim, a well-established international swim provider in the pageant scene.  

As the ladies prepare for the next part, an audio-visual presentation of their individual advocacies for the environment, culture, and society took place.

In the long gown competition, the ladies sophisticatedly wore Jimlani Haute Couture’s very own design and took the crowds breath away.

 Among the twelve ladies, top six were called and proceeded to the most-awaited part of the pageant, the question and answer portion. 

The six candidates, namely Kate Ella Antonio, Christine Orfanel, Carla Torregosa, Antonette Ledafe Ayco, Sweetsell Rhose Nisnisan and Hashem Balaba imparted their wit and eloquence for the question and answer portion.

Possessing the qualities of an empowered woman, the crowned Binibining Nabunturan 2019 is Ms. Sweetsell Rhose Nisnisan.

While, the 1st Runner Up is Ms. Hashem Balaba, followed by 2nd Runner Up, Ms. Kate Antonio.
